French patisserie maker Boncolac has taken an 80% stake in frozen food firm Terre de Lys to strengthen its position in frozen deli products.

From two production plants in northern France, Terre de Lys makes frozen savoury products ranging from apéritifs to first and main course dishes.

The company has an annual turnover of around EUR22m and its customers include frozen-food retailer Picard.

Terre de Lys’ owners, Thierry Landron, his wife and a regional development fund will remain shareholders. Mr Landron will head Boncolac’s savoury deli division.

Last month, Boncolac acquired frozen desserts business Générale Pâtissière.

Part of French dairy co-op, 3A Coop, Boncolac last year sold its ice cream division to UK-based R&R Ice Cream.
