French bakery group Brioche Pasquier has acquired fine frozen mini pastries producer Symphonie.

Based at Saint-Valéry-en-Caux, near Dieppe, in north-west France, Symphonie employs 280 staff and posted a 2005 turnover of EUR 31m (US$36.89m). In 2004, export sales accounted for 11% of Symphonie’s turnover.

The purchase will add cocktail products, such as petits-fours, to the Brioche Pasquier range, which already includes tarts, doughnuts, choux pastry and blancmanges.

Vienna pastry remains the group’s core business accounting for just over 50% of total turnover.

Last year, Brioche Pasquier acquired 100% of the capital of compatriot Picard SA, which produces toasted and crisp bread under the Auga brand.
