French bakery group Brioche Pasquier is investing EUR50m (US$61.21m) in building a 20,000 square metre manufacturing plant for toasted and crisp breads near Angers, in centre-west France.

Equipped with four production lines, the plant will have an annual capacity of 15,000 tonnes.
Construction work at the 8.6 hectare site is scheduled to begin at the start of next year with the plant set to enter service in the first half of 2008. Extending the plant by a further 16,000 square metres is also an option.
The new plant, which will replace an existing one, also located near Angers, will employ 150 staff.
Having acquired Spanish company, Recondo, in 2002 and Sopafi and Picard in 2005, Brioche Pasquier has built up a toasted and crisp bread division generating a turnover of almost EUR100m.
