French retail giant Carrefour has declined to comment on reports it has eliminated two senior executive roles from its management team.

The CEO of Carrefour, Georges Plassat, has let chief commercial officer Jose Carlos Gonzalez Hurtado and chief marketing officer Patrick Rouvillois go, just a month after stepping into his new role at the helm, according to La Tribune today (8 May).

Gonzalez Hurtado was recruited in November 2009 by Lars Olofsson, while Rouvillois joined Carrefour in late 2008 to the newly-created position of CMO.

According to the French publication, the roles will not be replaced.

A spokesperson for Carrefour declined to comment on the reports, or why the names of the two men were no longer on the company’s management list on its website, when contacted by just-food.

Further details on Plassat’s strategy are expected to be revealed in the group’s first-half results in August.
