French retail giant Casino has appointed Alain Thaly as its group marketing director.

Thaly will report directly to Casino chairman and CEO Jean-Charles Naouri, the firm said today (4 January). The role was previously held by Jean Rubens, who took up the role of executive managing director of Casino’s supermarkets division in December.

Taly, 44, previously served as director of international marketing for Danish brewing giant Carlsberg.

He started his career at The Coca-Cola Co. in a marketing capacity before taking up marketing roles with Remy Cointreau and then Scottish & Newcastle.
