French co-operative Euralis will shed 60 jobs when it re-organises its loss-making food division.

Staleven, which includes foie gras brands Montfort and Rougié and cold meats and deli brand Jean Staleven, will close two plants and two logistics hubs, with the loss of 110 jobs. Around 50 jobs, however, will be created elsewhere, the firm said.

Euralis is investing EUR7m (US$9.2m) at Staleven’s headquarters in Brittany, which by 2014 will integrate the production of the other plants located nearby.

The company also announced the head of Euralis’ food division, Giampaolo Schiratti, has stepped down and the group’s managing director, Pierre Couderc, has taken over.

Euralis has an annual turnover of EUR1.3bn and 5,000 staff.
