French pork processor Cooperl has launched a range of products made from pigs who have not been treated with antibiotics following the weaning period.

The move was in line with the application of norms which respect animal well-being and the environment as well as initiatives to promote food safety, a spokesperson for Cooperl told just-food.

“In addition, our own marketing surveys highlighted how that consumers greatly appreciate the guarantee that the meat they buy is from animals who have not been subject to medication.”

A range of sausages, under Cooperl’s Brocéliande brand, are already on sale at supermarket oultets and more products are due to follow in September.

“They are a little more expensive than standard products and mark Cooperl’s focus on the higher end of the market which can also be seen from the prepared dishes range we launched earlier this year.”
