A French court has given the green light to the sole takeover bid for La Lauragaise, the firm formed out of the acquisition of Spanghero, the meat products company caught up in the horsemeat scandal last year.

The change of ownership will take effect 1 August.

The bid was submitted by food holdings company, CA Holding, parent of Brittany-based Loste-Tradi, which specialises in the production of high-quality dried
sausage, cooked charcuterie, salads, ready meals and pastries.

La Lauragaise was placed under judicial administration in May amid serious cash flow difficulties.

The takeover is said to safeguard the employment of 91 of La Lauragaise’s 100 staff. CA Holsing declined to comment when contacted by just-food.
