French dairy co-op UCA Lorco has invested EUR8.1m (US$11.6m) in a UHT milk bottling line at its site in Pont-Scorff, in a bid to further diversify the business.
Until now, the company’s product range has comprised of UHT milk in cartons and cheese and cream.
However, UCA Lorco said the new bottling line, which recently entered service, would allow the company to better meet the requirements of supermarket retailers which account for the vast majority of its clientèle.
Generating an annual turnover of EUR61m, UCA Lorco is part of wider co-op grouping, CLAL, whose business also encompasses the supply of 50,000 tonnes of vegetables annually to preserves manufacturers.
