Around 20 individuals have carried out two commando-style raids on an Entremont Alliance production plant in France.

In the first attack, the main door of an administrative building at the facility in Brittany was smashed – as were several office windows, a computer and video system.

The second raid saw men in tractors pour 15,000 litres of milk – taken from tankers that had been blocked from entering the facility – into a local river, a spokesperson for the company told just-food.

The spokesperson said that the company had been “deeply shocked” by the violence and estimated the damage at around EUR100,000 (US$149,665).

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack, which saw police make three arrests.

While making no reference to the attack, France’s biggest milk producers federation, the FNPL, issued a statement shortly after the raids to denounce what it claimed to be the company’s policy of underpaying dairy farmers.

However, the spokesperson strongly refuted this suggestion.
