French cold meats specialist Aoste, part of the Campofrio Food Group, has named former Danone senior executive Olivier Maes as its new president.

He replaces Luc Van Gorp who left the company earlier this year.

Maes joined Danone in 1990, beginning in the marketing department of the group’s dairy products division. He went on to head Danone’s development in China and was subsequently named director of its biscuits division in south-east Asia.

Maes’ most recent post was managing director of Danone’s biscuit brand Lu, in the Benelux, where he oversaw the integration of the unit into Kraft Foods.
