Five German-made cheeses were withdrawn from sale in France on Friday after German health officials revealed that the listeria bacteria had been found in them.

The French government revealed that the affected cheeses are produced by the German firm Käserei Zurwies under the brand names: Ilot-Rouge-Bleu, L’amour rouge d’Antoine, Brique au Carvi, Le Vacherin and Madagasko.

Some of the affected cheese has already been sold and a statement issued by the government recommended that they be destroyed.
