Third-quarter sales were up 6.3% like-for-like, despite adverse weather conditions during the period and a strong 3rd-quarter 1999 performance (organic growth: +7.5%).
For the nine months to September 30, the increase was 7.5% like for like, rising to 8.2% if brewing activities are excluded.

Groupe Danone (NYSE: DA) continues to report steady growth in Western Europe (+5.7% for the 9 months to Sept. 30) and vigorous trends in other markets outside European Union (+10.6% for the 9 months to Sept. 30).
Consolidated sales totalled EUR 10,921 million (FRF 71,635 million), up from EUR 10,198 million for the same period of 1999, a nominal rise of 7.1%, with the impact of disposals -4.8% and currency translation +4.4%. At constant exchange rates and scope of consolidation, the increase was 7.5%.
