An agreement between Israel’s Strauss-Danone Dairies and a large food distributor in Turkey has been called off in view of the recent hostilities in the region. Despite the fact that the Turkish distributor has business ties with Danone, “The Turkish distributor preferred to import the dairy products from Germany,” according to a report in Maariv.

The report noted that the deal was for the supply of specialty milk products to the tune of 35 million shekels (US$ 8.5m) for the first year, adding that Strauss Dairies at present exports milk products to Greece.

The report revealed that Strauss group president and CEO Michael Strauss visited Dubai where negotiations were held for exporting Strauss-Danone milk products to Egypt and Jordan, but again, the hostilities in the region caused a temporary halt regarding these deals, as well as registering zero sales since last October of Strauss’ products to the Palestinian Authority, compared with sales of 50 million shekels per year before the hostilities started.
