Fruit desserts and Bonne Maman jam maker Andros has acquired a jam-making plant in south-west France from local rival Materne.

Andros has bought the plant from Materne subsidiary Boin, which is based in Biars-sur-Cère, where Andros has its headquarters.

Andros has indicated that the acquisition, to take effect at the end of this year, will not lead to any jobs cuts. The plant employs some 250 staff.

Financial details for the acquisition were not disclosed.

In 2006, Andros acquired another company based in the same region – Prolainat – a maker of ice creams, sorbets, frozen cakes and pastries.
