The fine came following an investigation by France’s General Directorate for Fair Trading, Consumer Affairs and Fraud Control (DGCCRF).

Kellogg’s France was accused of understating the level of fats in several products in the Special K range and to have used “0% fat” logos between 2001 and 2004.

Since the DGCCRF investigation, the advertising on Special K products’ packaging has changed and it now carries a “low in fats” message.

A spokesman for Kellogg’s France told just-food that the company had yet to decide whether to appeal.
