A Paris appeal court has ordered French dairy products group Lactalis to pay €3m (US$3.22m) in damages.

The damages are payable to fellow French cheese-maker Entremont for selling Emmental cheese without a crust between 1996 and 2000.

Lactalis will now take its appeal to France’s Supreme court as well as pleading its case before the European Commission.
