Celtigel, a subsidiary of Brittany-based seafood frozen ready meals specialist Le Graet, is investing EUR16m (US$25.17m) in doubling its production capacity.
A spokesperson for the company told just-food that the extension work is scheduled for completion by September 2008.
The company hopes to increase production levels to between 30,000 and 40,000 tonnes annually.
Apart from shellfish, which represent around 35% of total output, Celtgel’s product portfolio also includes a wide range of meat, fish and vegetable-based ready meals, the spokesperson added.
The company produces own brand shepherds pie and lasagne dishes for retail customers and 80% of Celtigel’s output goes to the supermarket segment.
