Strike action over pay continues for a fourth day at one of frozen chip maker McCain Foods’ plants in France.
Strikes started on 27 November at the plant in Matougues, north-east France, which produces between 650 and 700 tonnes of frozen chips daily, six days per week. The plant distributes to retailers across Europe.

“Production has been at a standstill since Sunday evening and 90% to 95% of the 204 workers at the plant are on strike,” a union official told just-food today.
Workers have rejected an annual pay increase by management of 2.2% for 2012 and are asking for 10%.
“Discussions are due to resume later this afternoon. We are ready to make an effort in making an agreement possible and are ooking for management to do likewise,”
the official added.
When contacted by just-food, no one was immediately available at McCain France to comment on the strike.
