French family firm Sodebo, which produces fresh pizzas, prepared meats and delicatessen products, is continuing to invest heavily in production facilities in the Vendee region of western France.

Having invested €24m (US$25.7m) last year, a further €25m has been earmarked for 2003.
Part of this sum will target the construction of a new 15,000m sq plant which will supply Sodebo’s other production units. The new plant will also produce bacon for McDonald’s, Sodebo having been awarded a contract to supply the fastfood chain’s outlets in nine European countries.
Sodebo is projecting a 10% increase in turnover this year having posted a 2002 turnover of €335m, up 11.6% on 2001.
Expansion is expected to lead to the creation of 150 new jobs.
