French retailer Monoprix has begun marketing a range of dairy products supplied by an association of around 200 small-scale growers and producers operating under the Le Petit Producteur brand.

100 Monoprix stores in the Paris region began selling a range of the brand’s full-cream and semi-skimmed fresh milk, plain yogurts and fromage frais-type cheese at the end of last week.

“We already sell Le Petit Producteur fruit and vegetables but the particularity with the dairy deal is that products are made at two farms located less than 100km from our Paris stores,” a Monoprix spokesman told just-food today (14 March).

One of its key features of Le Petit Producteur is that packaging bears the name, address and photo of the producer.

The spokesman said he could not comnent on whether Monoprix was considering carrying further Le Petit Producteur products.
