Gérard Daupeyroux, CPW’s industrial director for southern and western Europe, said the centre had been built in response to the growth in the activities of the Itancourt plant, which makes the Fitness breakfast cereal.

CPW had set up the plant, which is situated around 170km north-east of Paris, in 1995 with 48 staff turning out less than 5,000 tonnes of product. Today, it has almost 300 staff working at the site and output has risen to nearly 60,000 tonnes.

A connecting gallery allows for product to be transported directly from the plant to the distribution centre.

CPW supplies 36 countries from France.
