Last year, Net Cacao signed a deal to take over the Saint-Menet facility, take on the 190 staff and supply 13,000 tonnes of product over three years to Nestlé.

Relations between the two firms rapidly deteriorated amid claims as to the condition of the building, for which Net Cacao is demanding compensation retrospectively.

The factory has become a local ’cause célèbre’ as the unions, who called a four-hour strike ahead of the Paris tribunal hearing.

“The tribunal in Paris has made its judgement and we have no comment to make,”
Nestlé told just-food this afternoon.
