“A survey we conducted on shopper attitudes shows that many people intend to continue buying organic goods,” a spokesperson for Agence Bio said. “This is clearly a good sign for the organic sector and we are hopeful that will sales remain strong.”

According to the survey, which looked at the attitudes of shoppers who already buy organic, 74% of respondents said they would maintain or increase organic purchases in the next six months.

The global economic recession has slowed the pace of organic growth across most markets.

However, the spokesperson said that the body is hopeful that the sector will still see increased sales this year.
