French baked goods producer Brioche Pasquier has announced it will close its plant at Vannes in Brittany by June 2004.

The move follows the destruction of the Vannes plant by fire in July 2002. The plant had operated two production lines for cream desserts and since the fire these activities have been carried out on a provisional basis at two other Pasquier plants in the region.

The group now plans to transfer these activities to its HQ at Cholet, also in western France.

The 93 staff employed at the Vannes plant will be offered alternative jobs within the group.
