French charcuterie firm Pierre Schmidt has acquired regional counterpart, Stoeffler, for an undisclosed sum.
The takeover, which has received regulatory approval, will create a group with a combined turnover of just over EUR156m (US$238m) and employing close to 700 staff.
Both Pierre Schmidt and Stoeffler specialise in the supply of pre-packed products to supermarket chains, including cooked meats and sausages in the Alsace tradition, as well as ready meals such as choucroute dishes, quiches and pies.
One key focus for the new group will be the development of export sales.
