French popcorn maker Nataïs is upping production capacity to meet growth at home and abroad.

The company, which claims to account for 35% of Europe’s popcorn market, is investing EUR15m (US$21m) over the the next five years in capacity, adding storage silos and developing logistics infrastructure at its plant in Bézéril.

The addition of a fourth line aims to increase output from 150m microwaveable packets annually to 170m over the next three years.

Nataïs posted a turnover of EUR39m last year, up 20% on the year prior. Exports to Europe represent 90% of Nataïs’ output with the company experiencing the strongest growth in its business in France, Germany, the UK, Ireland and Portugal, Nataïs MD Jérôme Réthoré told just-food.

It also serves markets in Eastern Europe and Scandinavia and also further afield in north Africa, the Middle East, Vietnam and Japan.
