French cooked meats firm Les Etablissements Jean Brient, which supplies charcuterie products to supermarket chains like Carrefour, Leclerc and Casino, has been snapped up for an undisclosed sum.

Two local businessmen, Olivier Philippe and Stéphane Poyac, who already own a number of food firms in the region, have bought the Brittany-based business.
Family firm Brient employs 300 staff and has an annual turnover of EUR50m (US$67m). It has an output of over 10,000 tonnes from its two plants.
The new owners plan to undertake an investment programme of EUR4.5m that will focus on improvements to production facilities and the creation of a storage centre for finished products at Brient’s site in Mordelles.
