The Auchan group is among the businesses to have moved into new temperature controlled facilities in the Eurodelta zone of Rungis, France’s largest wholesale market. The retailer’s fresh produce subsidiary SCOFEL has occupied the currently available 7,400 square metres of Eurodelta’s DE2 block.

The SCOFEL facility is taking inbound fresh produce deliveries and consolidating orders to supply 23 Auchan stores in the Île de France region
In the nearby 10,000 square metre DE4 building, foodservice specialist All Fresh Logistique has settled in, while exotic fresh produce trader Comexa and RHC, a supplier of branded chilled goods to the major hotel chains, have also moved in.
Work is now complete on the first phase of the 12 hectare zone, representing a total of 29,400 square metres. Next year will see the addition of a further 7,400 square metre phase of the DE2 building and the DE1 block, a 5,500 square metre coldstore.
The site had been part of the Rungis land bank for a decade, prior to its development. “It may sound a long time, but ten years is a very short period in our development plans,” communications director David Bourganel told just-food. Rungis is home to 1,300 companies, with sales of over EUR7bn (US$9bn)
