French dairy co-operative Sicolait has become a member of Toulouse-based counterpart 3A.
A senior 3A official told just-food the move will pave the way for the planned merger of Sicolait’s cheese-making activities with those of 3A’s subsidiary, Les Fromageries Occitaines.

The merger is expected to be completed in July and will consolidate 3A’s leading position in the French AOC Auvergne cheese category, raising its market share to 50%.
3A, whose activities also encompass fresh cream, fromage frais, desserts and powdered milk, generated global turnover of EUR675m (US$847.5m) last year.
