Carrefour’s sale of the 68 stores in France and a further 68 in Spain is believed to be part of a strategy to focus on its core business.
Although not providing financial details of the deal, Carrefour said the French stores had revenues of €56m (US$64.8m), while the Spanish stores had sales of €20m, reported Reuters.
British private equity fund Apax Partners controls a 24% stake in Afflelou.
