A strike at the plant where Bongrain makes its Saint Agur cheese brand has gone into a fourth day, with staff demanding increased wages, bonuses and better working conditions.
The plant, operated by Bongrain subsidiary Compagnie Fromagère de la Vallée de l’Ance (CFVA), produces more than 7,000 tonnes of Saint Agur annually. Some 300 workers have taken part in the industrial action.

CFVA was not available to comment, but a union spokesman told just-food that 80% of staff at the plant suppoted the strike. Production had been at a standstill since Monday (14 March), the official said.
“Negotiations between management and staff representatives resumed this afternoon and are continuing as we speak” the spokesman added.
