French retailer Systeme-U has insisted the worker protests hitting its distribution depots in the east of the country are not affecting deliveries to its stores.

Workers at four warehouses in eastern France have protested in a bid to win a pay increase but the retailer told just-food today (12 March) that its stores remain unaffected.

“The dispute relates to pay issues. The unions have demanded a general increase of EUR150 (US$206) net,” a Systeme-U spokesperson said.

“There is a medium-term risk of shortages in store for some products but, at the moment, this is not the case. Trade continues.”
