The centre, which is set to open in September, will be part of Tate & Lyle’s Global Food Ingredients Group and will focus on the development of new wellness and nutrition products for the beverage, dairy, bakery and convenience food sectors.

Tate & Lyle said that the centre would facilitate the development of the group’s European fibre platform, which supports the Enrich service launched at the beginning of the year. Enrich is designed to allow food and beverage manufacturers to add nutrients to foods without changing the taste. The centre will also specialise in the application and development of Splenda sucralose, hydrocolloids, carbohydrates, proteins and Core ingredient solutions.

Olivier Rigaud, VP food ingredients said: ”Establishing a Wellness & Nutrition Centre is a major advance in our European value added strategy. Our aim is to work closely with our FMCG customers’ development and marketing teams to create great tasting nutritious products. The structure of the centre will enable us to respond rapidly to their need for new and innovative concepts.”
