The mozzarella will be produced for the B2B market in Europe, a spokesperson for FrieslandCampina told just-food. He did not disclose the value of the transaction.
Bas van den Berg, executive director of FrieslandCampina's cheese, butter and milk powder arm, said: "With this acquisition, we will be expanding our production capacity by adding a modern and efficient production facility close to our cooperative base. The transaction will enable us to offer our customers a wide range of mozzarella products in addition to our existing cheese portfolio."
The acquisition is subject to approval of competition authorities.
