Genius Foods, the UK-based gluten-free manufacturer, has added bagels to its range on sale in its domestic market.
The company is rolling out two bagel lines – plain, plus cinnamon and raisin – as well as a seeded brown farmhouse loaf.
“Genius is growing at almost twice the rate of the category as we continue to expand our portfolio to provide consumers with more gluten-free options to suit multiple meal occasions,” David Shaw, Genius’ commercial director, said.
Genius has secured multiple listings for the bagels and the loaf. The bagels have a recommended price of four for GBP2 (US$2.83), with the loaf having an RRP of GBP3.
In November, Genius snapped up local gluten-free pastry products maker Chapel Foods. The GBP3.5m deal saw Genius take on a company with which it launched a range of frozen pies in 2014.
Last year also saw Genius announce it was hoping to “change the face” of the UK gluten-free bread market after changes to the recipes of its products.
