German grocery co-operative Edeka today (27 September) revealed plans to open 200 full-range supermarkets in 2011.
“We see much potential in Germany for attractive grocery stores run by independent merchants,” said Edeka chief executive Markus Mosa.
Speaking at a commercial real estate trade fair, he added that the group invests around a EUR1bn a year on expanding and modernising its network.
