The European Union has given the go-ahead for Rewe’s acquisition of 100% of wholesaler Fegro/Selgros.

The European Commission said in a statement that the deal had been cleared under EU merger regulations.
A spokesperson for Rewe said the company was “pleased” at the news.
“Rewe currently operates Fegro/Selgros as a joint venture with Hamburg-based mail order company Otto-Versand. We are pleased that the EC has given approval for us to obtain control of the group,” Rewe told just-food.
Fegro/Selgros is the second-largest cash & carry operator in Germany.
