GlobalNetXchange (GNX), the global B2B online marketplace for retailers, has launched the largest single Collaborative Forecasting, Planning and Replenishment (CPFR) programme with German wholesale giant Metro, the third largest retail group in Europe.

The first phase involves collaboration with nine suppliers on approximately 500 products at over 50 locations.
GNX also introduced complete data integration functionality to enable automated data loading from the CPFR platform back into retailer and supplier legacy systems, in addition to automated data feeds supported by the GNX platform.
In addition, Metro has also implemented the Market Manager module, an add-on feature to the GNX CPFR solution, to manage all of the weekly promotional campaigns – the focus of the collaboration for the Cash & Carry store division.
Metro has now integrated nine supplier partners into the programme, with plans to extend collaboration to a total of ten by year-end. It is hoped that the GNX CPFR platform will facilitate the exchange of sales, inventory, forecast, service level and promotional data between Metro’s head office, warehouse, and stores and their supplier counterparts, enabling collaboration to occur on multiple levels.

By GlobalData“In Metro’s initial CPFR implementation with [consumer goods giant] P&G, the Cash & Carry division was able to improve forecast accuracy by 46% and reduce warehouse inventory levels by as much as two weeks,” explained Zygmunt Mierdorf, member of Metro’s board: “These factors also contributed to the decision to extend the GNX collaboration programme to include more of our key supplier partners.”
