German discount store chain Lidl plans to open its first supermarket in Norway in July 2003. The supermarket will be located in the town of Gjovik in southern Norway, and construction of the store is expected to be completed by 10 July.

Lidl had initially planned to open its first Norwegian supermarket in the northern town of Trondheim, but its plans were rejected by local authorities. The company plans to expand to other towns in Norway in the future, reported the Norwegian News Digest.
