German family-owned food group Dr Oetker saw an 8.1% increase in year-on-year sales for 2007, amounting to EUR1.59bn (US$2.50bn), reported the German Financial Times.
A 14.9% increase in year-on-year foreign sales contributed significantly, accounting for 59% of the company’s overall sales in 2007, the German financial press reported.
In the domestic market, Dr. Oetker saw its operating revenue grow 0.6% last year, yet sales in Germany fell 0.4%.
The financial press also reported that Dr Oetker is introducing a new probiotic yoghurt drink called Vitalis Yofibra this month and will aim to compete with well-established probiotic product brands such as Actimel and Activia, both produced by Danone.
The company will roll out a TV advertising campaign this month in conjunction with the launch.
