South African supermarket operator Shoprite Holdings has said it opened its first three retail outlets in Ghana during October.

Shoprite said it plans to open 60 new stores by June 2004 as part of an expansion plan for the next eight months, reported Reuters.
The three new outlets are situated in the capital Akra, Tema Casino in the Akra area, and the city of Takoradi, which is 300km away from the capital.
