Discount retailer Lidl has said it is looking to purchase ten former Aldi stores in Greece.
It is understood the stores, among 38 former Aldi outlets, are located in the Thessaloniki area of Greece.
Aldi announced it was withdrawing from Greece in July last year – the first market exit in the company’s history.
The German retailer confirmed the reports to just-food, although it did not provide any further information on its plans.
Documents have been filed with the country’s competition authority.
In November, Lidl announced it had entered the Bulgarian market with the opening of its first stores in the country.
