Hain Celestial is to start selling its organic infant formula, Earth’s Best Organic, in China through its joint venture with Chinese pharmaceutical group Hutchison China MediTech, or Chi-Med.

The joint venture business, Hutchison Hain Organic Holdings, will see the Earth’s Best Organic brand look to take its share of what Euromonitor claims is a $16.5bn infant formula market in China.

Earth’s Best Organic is produced for Hain Celestial by Perrigo, a top five global over-the-counter consumer goods and pharmaceutical company and leading US manufacturer and supplier of infant formula. 

Joseph Papa, Perrigo's chairman, president and CEO, said: "Infant formula is a premium product in China, and we believe Earth's Best organic formula will be an attractive offering to families in Hong Kong and mainland China."
