Heinz has opened an infant cereal production facility in China, its seventh manufacturing site in the market.

The move, initially announced in 2012, will significantly increase its production capacity in the country, the company said.

Bernardo Hees, chief executive officer, commented: “The new facility will allow Heinz to continue to grow and exceed consumer expectations, while sustaining our leadership in the food industry.”

Addressing Chinese consumer concerns over food safety and quality, Heinz stressed that the site operates to the “highest” safety standards, including quality tests from raw materials to finished products. Allergens from raw material storage will also be isolated from the production process in order to “exceed” international standards, the company said.

We are committed to providing Chinese babies with the safest and highest quality foods.”
