Earth’s Best and Greek Gods owner Hain Celestial has recruited a former Hershey executive to take a senior management role at the US group.

Javier Idrovo, who has spent more than a decade at the Reese’s and Kisses maker, is to join Hain Celestial as CFO on 2 December. He will replace James Longrock, who has worked at Hain since 2015 and became its CFO in 2017.

Mark Schiller, Hain Celestial’s president and CEO, joined the company last December. He said of Idrovo’s appointment: “He has a strong financial and strategic background and deep industry experience, which will help him make an immediate impact at Hain Celestial. He joins us at an ideal time as we accelerate our efforts to simplify our organisation, standardise key processes and eliminate inefficient spending.”

Idrovo joined Hershey in 2008, spending two years as senior vice president for strategy and business development. He worked for four years as senior vice president, finance and planning. From August 2015, Idrovo has been Hershey’s chief accounting officer.

His career has also included stints at Dole Food Co. and Boston Consulting Group.

Alongside news of Idrovo’s appointment, Hain Celestial announced its financial results for its first quarter, which ran to 30 September.

Net sales were down 7% at US$482.1m, or by 5% on a constant-currency basis. Stripping out M&A and Hain Celestial’s moves to trim certain SKUs from its portfolio, net sales dipped 1%.

Hain Celestial made a first-quarter net loss of $5m, compared to a net loss of $23.1m in the corresponding period a year earlier.
