The US food giant said today (26 September) that “trace levels” of melamine of 1.6mg/kg were found in a batch of Heinz Intelligence Many Many Vegetable Cereal after testing.
The batch, equivalent to 270 cases, were the only Heinz varieties affected, the company said.
The affected variety accounts for less than 1% of Heinz’s baby food sales in Hong Kong, the company added. The batch has a bar code of 6901642888480.
The action follows new legislation in Hong Kong that sets a limit for melamine for children under 26 months of 1mg/kg.
