As demand for on the go snacks increases, Hostess has introduced a new Mini Muffins recipe containing eight grams of whole grain per serving.

Available in three flavours – Chocolate Chip, Blueberry and Birthday Cake, the company claims the products have a better taste and texture.

The Mini Muffins are available on shelf this month, and the new recipe not only features an enhanced flavour, but also a higher moisture content.

The muffins are free of high fructose corn syrup, hydrogenated vegetable oil or trans fats. The Blueberry variety contains real fruit, while the Chocolate Chip variety has real chocolate.

“While they’re still a sweet indulgence, stocking your pantry with Mini Muffins has a nutritional upside as well,” said Becky Logan, Hostess Brands’ senior brand manager.

“With the addition of whole grain to our Mini Muffins recipe, moms can give their kids a snack they love and also one they feel good about.”

Each package contains five pouches of four muffins.
