HUNGARY: Tesco to open four more hypermarkets this year
Hungarian retailer Tesco-Global Aruhazak, a subsidiary of UK retail giant Tesco, has said it will open four hypermarkets by the end of 2003 and plans to open nine more next year. The company also plans to construct an HUF8bn (US$34.4m) warehouse in 2004 that will supply fruit and vegetables to its hypermarkets, reported the Hungarian News Digest.

Tesco-Global has so far built 29 hypermarkets in Hungary at a total cost of HUF162bn. The retailer has an annual turnover of around HUF270bn and a 13% market share.
