Bharti Enterprises has once again identified Tesco as a potential partner in its planned foray into the retail sector, as it told a press conference today (10 October) that it had entered the final stages of selecting a partner.

“We are in the final stages of choosing a partner,” Bharti chairman Sunil Bharti Mittal said.


Foreign retailers eager to tap into the Indian market are lining up to work alongside Bharti due to strict regulations governing foreign direct investment in the retail sector.


When asked whether Tesco was among a short-list of potential partners, Mittal said: “Tesco is one of them”.
